PAT Testing

If you supply any Electrical Equipment as part of your business to staff, guests or members of the public, you have a legal responsibility to ensure that it is safe and suitable for use.

It may also be a requirement of your insurance cover.

PAT testing is not a legal requirement but it will form the foundation of your maintenance and monitoring policy, helping ensure the safety of all your Electrical Equipment.

We aim to help you perform periodic inspection of your equipment to help ensure you are compliant with current legislations.

About SEETS

Safety has always been a part of my working life. On getting my first job at 18, three months of training was accompanied by a weekly Safety Test with a passing mark of 95%. Fail, and you’d be out on your ear, or 'terminated' as they called it. This gave me a healthy respect for safety in the workplace and a realisation of its importance.

When I started to supply my own equipment for jobs, this responsibility grew. I realised that ensuring the gear was kept in good working order meant that I wouldn’t let clients down. Furthermore, it would stop easily preventable issues from making the job at hand more difficult. So regular PAT testing became one of the foundations of keeping the equipment safe to operate. It soon became apparent that buying my own tester and completing my training was an obvious step forward.

From inspecting a power lead every time it comes out of a flight case, to making sure that the mains socket I’m plugging into is in good working order: these basic checks have kept me and those I work with safe. In my career, schedules are tight. Avoiding delays is vital, so spending a little time to ensure no unfortunate surprises await is always worth it.

It's a fact that around 70 people a year are fatally electrocuted in the UK. Over 300,000 are injured in some way, and electrical faults are a leading cause of fires that can further claim lives and ruin households and businesses. It's hard to say how many of these accidents could be prevented by some basic house rules or an enforced Electrical Equipment Inspection, but surely if just one injury was prevented then we’d all be in a better place.

Having passed my City and Guilds exam with the IET's ‘In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment’ and investing in the state-of-the-art Tester, Printer and Bar Code Scanner, I'm happy to help you create a safer working environment around you, your staff, your guests, your students or your patients. I'll help you comply with current regulations and help you get on with the job at hand.
